About the event
As part of Sarah's Country Club series, this month we host Mark Anderson from Westridge Farm in a Q&A over drinks & nibbles at The Langland Hotel on the Tuesday night prior to the South Island Dairy Event (SIDE). Sarah & Mark will discuss how we continue to 'shift the script' (or change the narrative) to our wider community about dairying by implementing and showcasing positive changes.
Mark and Madeline Anderson are farming in South Otago on what was a 5th-generation sheep and beef farm converted to dairy. They have been on a pathway towards lower inputs and focusing on soil health. They are 7 years into transitioning their farm of 750 cows to be milked once a day and all-grass wintering/bale grazing with taller rounds on diverse pastures and mixed species forage crops. They farm in the Waiwera catchment and boundary 6km of the Waiwera river on rolling to flat country.
Come along for drinks & nibbles to hear Sarah & Mark discuss his farming journey, what changes he's made are promising and what hasn't worked so well recorded as an episode for Sarah's Country.
Free to attend with food supplied, drinks extra. 7 pm Tuesday 27th June (the night before SIDE). RSVP by Friday 23rd June 2023.
