Kerry Templeton | “New hop cultivars with unique flavours for premium beer”
As part of this week’s “Change Maker” show of Sarah’s Country, Kerry Templeton from Plant & Food Research outlines the new hop cultivars with unique flavours developed for our premium craft beer markets. New Zealand has some of the most sought-after hops in the world. Not only does the hop industry benefit from New Zealand's reputation for environmental sustainability, but our hops have unique flavours brewers, particularly those with a taste for something different, search for. The hop breeding programme has pioneered the release of a series of highly successful seedless triploid cultivars. The breeding programme focuses on developing high performing bittering-type hops as well as novel aromatic-type hops which impart unique flavours to beer. Mark McCoard & Phil McKenzie | “Unclear how deer farmers will meet emissions targets”
As part of this week’s “Opinion Maker” show of Sarah’s Country, Mark McCoard from Deer Farmers Association and Phil McKenzie from DINZ discuss how deer farmers are going to be able to meet climate change emission reduction targets. While the industry welcomes many aspects of the Climate Change Commission’s interim report, it will be a challenge for deer farmers.
